The Tivoli Audio Model One+ is the latest upgrade to a design that has well and truly stood the test of time. The Plus brings the convenience of DAB+ radio for the first time and also includes such niceties as a remote control, station presets and an alarm function.
According to interior designers, retro 60’s is making a comeback as we lean more towards natural textures that we can see and touch, like wood. Accordingly, Tivoli Audio hasn’t messed with the classic retro styling of the original Model One in this new updated version but it sure has included a swag of welcome new features.
For the first time the Model One includes DAB+ radio and, in typical Tivoli Audio style, done it in a way that combines analogue inspired style and functionality.
The classic Model One tabletop radio, designed over twenty years ago, has had a makeover to reflect the growing market share of Digital Audio Broadcasting technology. With a newly designed face, the Model One+ oozes timeless design with clean lines and practicality, with the simple control knobs doing most of the work. The old school aesthetics of this radio offer the same classic charm as the original Model One and will find a ready home in bedrooms, kitchens, offices, or the living room.
The top firing speaker produces high-quality audio that can be enjoyed anywhere in the home, whether listening to DAB+, FM, Bluetooth®, or wired auxiliary sources. Hands-on controls, including the iconic tuning dial and five available preset buttons, allow you to jump quickly between your favourite stations. The accompanying full-function remote control gives access to more features, including alarm and display settings for the high-quality LED screen.
The Model One+ is available in the classic Tivoli walnut/beige, and also in a couple of new colour-ways exclusive to the Plus - grey/white, and oak/black.
As with all Tivoli Audio products, the Model One+ balances style, audio quality and ease of use. Transcending any trend, except Audio Trends of course, the Model One+ will add a little bit of old and a little bit of new to your home.
FM Radio: High signal sensitivity is achieved with a discrete-component FM tuner featuring the same innovative signal detection technology found in mobile phones. The large analogue tuning dial is geared down to a 5:1 ratio, so that turning the knob results in smaller, more precise movements of the tuning mechanism which is a real benefit when listening to late night radio where you do not want to 'disturb' others. With good reception, stations come in loud and gorgeously clear! It provides very good sound quality, and it has the ability to pick up more stations than typical table top FM radios but this is totally dependent on the signal strength where you are listening. Performance depends on many factors. Before purchasing, please read this article on what you need to do to hear your favourite radio station.
DAB+ Radio: No question, DAB+ digital radio has been a huge success in Australia even though it is only available in some capital cities and large regional areas. Although it has introduced us to a number of new stations - like Koffee or even Coles radio which is not bad if you can stand a constant flow of just their ads - the big thing for a lot of listeners is the fact that most if not all of the ABC and commercial AM stations now broadcast via this medium. One thing common to both digital TV and radio is that it either is perfect or non-existent. There is no "drifting" as can occur on AM radio. You've either got it or not. One of our staff has a DAB+ radio in his car and in one spot near his home reception just vanishes only to reappear a few seconds later. So as per FM, digital radio has a limited range and is affected by surrounding geography.
Classic Design: The design is the finishing touch to the Model One+. The small, solidly built real wood cabinet offers classic looks and impressively clean sound. Plus, the simple timber colours complement any decor. It is very easy to use. Just put it down, plug it in and enjoy.
Note: The Radio section in our units is unique to Australia and will not work overseas. Likewise with US and other models which have different station allocation frequencies and will not work downunder. Please call us if you need further clarification.
